Y Plas is one of the versatile venues for either social learning during the daytime or nighttime entertainment that boasts a 1000 people seating capacity. The building features few new bars, a mezzanine balcony, fancy glass roof, and stunning decor. The venue hosts different kinds of events: parties, gigs, and club nights. The club nights such as Flux and YOLO are getting more and more popular among the guests. The Y Plas has also hosted some of the great performers, like London Grammar, Bastille, and Jake Bugg.
The Y Plas is situated at the Park Place in Cardiff and is easily accessible by bus, car, and train.
By train: if you choose to travel by train, the nearest station would be Cathays Station – only 2 minutes walk from the Y Plas.
By car: there are few motorways that lead to the Y Plas. The best way to get to the venue is to take the M4 motorway.
International: if you are travelling from the Cardiff Airport, the best way to get to the venue is to take the T9 Express bus route. Get off at the County Hall station, walk to the Cardiff Bay and take the train to Cardiff Queen Street station. Then switch to the Merthyr Tydfil train and get off at Cathays Station. The venue is just 1 minute walk away from the station.
The venue does not have its own parking. However, there is a substantial number of “pay and display” car parks available in proximity to the venue. All of those parks have spots for the disabled patrons.
Access for people with special needs
The main entrance of the Y Plas has a ground level lift right behind the stairs and provides access to the main reception on Level 2. All other levels inside the building are also accessible by the lift. Dedicated disabled toilet facilities are available on all floors except ground level.
