Katatonia is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1991 by the two musicians Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström. They first started as a studio project as a channel to express their love of death metal. They shortly became more and more popular, adding more members to the band for their live performances. After the release of their first two death/doom albums and some medical problems with Renkse's vocal cords, the band adopted new musical influences which lead them from the strong and screamed vocals of death metal to a more melodic heavy metal sound. Orchestra Baobab was formed in 1970 and it is a multi-ethnic national club band. They have a long history of performances adapting their style from Cuban music to Wolof Griot culture and the Mandinga musical traditions. They became one of the most popular African bands of the ‘70s. The band was on a break from the mid 80’s until they reunited in 2001 after the popularity and demand for their recordings massively grew across Europe. During 2001, Orchestra Baobab completed a world tour including Europe and the US and also re-recorded their album ‘Pirates Choice’ with 6 additional rare bonus tracks.
