About Yak
Formation
Two friends, Burslem and Jones (acquainted since 5) were the participants of Wolverhampton team “Yelps”. They issued their first track “P.E.O.P.L.E” in 2007, followed by the song “Ramshackle Of A Rave”. The EP “This Ain't No Mardi Gras” appeared in Japan in 2008 before the collective broke up. The friends met the drummer Elliot Rawson, who played with the bands from Auckland “The Mud Babies” and “Popstrangers”.
Style
The London rock/garage punk group is a combination of nervy, magnetic, and photogenic noise. This band is the child of Black Country’s residents Oli Burslem and Andy Jones and New Zealand’s inhabitant – the drummer Elliot Rawson. Combining the sonic heaviness of “The Hives” and “The White Stripes” alongside with the pop unpredictability of “The Velvets”,
Television, and “The Fall”, the group began operating in public in late 2014, releasing its debut track, “Hungry Heart,” in 2015.
Creativity
The team uploaded their track “Plastic People” to SoundCloud in 2014 before issuing the debut track “Hungry Heart” in 2015. Their EP “No” went out via A Third Man Records, and in 2016 they let out their greatly awaited debut LP, “Alas Salvation”.
