About Apocalyptica
Metallica and Other Covers
In 1996, the band released the album Plays Metallica by Four Cellos featuring such eminent covers, like Master of Puppets, Sad but True and, of course, The Unforgiven. Two years later, Apocalyptica recorded the album Inquisition Symphony that has Metallica and other covers.
Collaboration with Famous Artists
The third album Cult (2000) featured only three covers, as opposed to 10 original tracks. And the fourth one, Reflections (2003), had only original songs. The list of artists who has collaborated with Apocalyptica is astonishing: Till Lindemann, Lauri Ylönen, Ville Valo, Cristina Scabbia,
Corey Tailor, Oomph and many others. The first one on it was Sandra Nasic, who recorded vocals for the song Path Vol.2 (2001). The album World Collide (2008) features many songs with vocals. The seventh album, 7th Symphony, was released in 2010.
Current Members
Today, the band is officially three cellists and a drummer: Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Perttu Kivilaakso and Mikko Sirén on drums. Since 2014, Apocalyptica has also had a vocalist Franky Perez, who has performed all the vocals on the eighth band's album Shadowmaker (2015) and now in on tour with the band. But, according to Eicca Toppinen, it is too early to decide, if Perez is going to become an official member, though it is quite possible.
