Aluna Francis started her music career when she was singing in a band called “My Toys Like Me”. George Reid was a guitarist in an indie-math rock group called “Colour”. The duo first met in summer 2009, when Reid remixed a track “Sweetheart” for My Toys Like Me. The duet cites inspiration from artists like Mariah Carey, Destiny's Child, Hudson Mohawke, Chris Clark and Flying Lotus; the group also cites CocoRosie, PJ Harvey, Aaliyah, Van Morrison and James Taylor as references.The Body Music
AlunaGeorge’s first single "You Know You Like It" was released in 2012. The first commercial single of the band was "Your Drums, Your Love", which debuted at number 50 in the UK Charts. In 2013, AlunaGeorge saw their first top-40 entry with collaboration on "White Noise" (with Disclosure). The single has peaked at number two in the UK Singles Chart. Finally, the same year the group released their first studio album “Body Music”, which had the greatest success in US charts. A collection of brand new and previously released remixes, “Body Music Remixed”, was released the following year. In 2014 a single called "Supernatural" was released. In 2016 the duet released the single "I'm in Control", that featured Jamaican artist Popcaan.
