Polly Jean Harvey was born on October 9, 1969 in Bridport, Dorset. “Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea”, the sixth album of PJ Harvey, was let out in 2000. It was a very expected continuation of her work “Is This Desire?” The album was made at Head studio in the estate of Great Linford Manor and mixed by Victor Van Vugt in “The Fallout Shelter”. It is considered her best work since then.

The Trio
Since the first embodiment, PJ Harvey attracted attention of public. Polly Jean Harvey created a bass- guitar-drum trio in 1991 in Somerset, and they let out the debut single “Dress” in a sound recording studio of indie music Too Pure. With the second single “Sheela-Na-Gig” in 1992, PJ Harvey began impressive rise, which paved the way to the release of an album.
Debut Album
“Dry” was proclaimed as a surprising debut as it won places in charts of the UK and the US of an album of a year.
In 1993, PJ Harvey signed the contract for recording with Island Records studio. The album “Rid Of Me” (1993) was supported by long round-the-world tour, attracting more and more broad masses of the audience.
However, by the end of the tour, Polly made the decision to terminate the relations with original structure of the trio and to try to work with other musicians.
Solo Career
She began the solo career with “4-Track Demos” (1993), the album which included 14 songs, mix of unissued material and demo versions for “Rid Of Me”.
She also made a contribution to recordings of such performers as Pascal Comelade, Nick Cave, and Tricky.
While recording the fifth album “Is This Desire?”, Harvey was in a team with Parrish, Goe, and Feldman, and also Mick Harvey from Bad Seeds and Rob Ellis from initial participants of Harvey PJ. This work attracted applause from both coasts of Atlantic as Harvey received her third award of the Grammy and the nomination Brit Award, became the first actress three times nominated for Mercury Music Prize.
