About The Saw Doctors
History and Members
Originally, The Saw Doctors was a trio. It featured Leo Moran, Davy Carton and Mary O'Connor. Today, the lineup has grown significantly. The current members of The Saw Doctors are Leo Moran (vocals, guitar), Davy Carton (vocals, guitar), Kevin Duffy (keyboards), Anthony Thistlethwaite (saxophone, bass) and Eímhín Craddock (drums).
Early Career
The Saw Doctors started as a supporting act for various Irish bands, such as the
Hothouse Flowers,
The Stunning and
The Waterboys, and soon got noticed. They were highly praised by the audience; and in 1988, their performance at Galway Arts Festival was a huge success. The debut album If This Is Rock and Roll, I Want My Old Job Back was released in 1991. Its I Useta Lover (1990) got #1 in Ireland immediately and kept this position for nine weeks. Moreover, it still remains the best-selling single in the country ever.
Recognition
The Saw Doctors was nominated for many awards. On February 15, 2008, The Saw Doctors received the Meteor Ireland Lifetime Achievement Award for their musical accomplishments and continuous work. The band has a colossal number of fans, especially in Ireland, the UK and the US, but it is also well-known in other countries. All over the world, music lovers are waiting passionately for their live performances.
