About Marianas Trench
Teen Years
Ramsay’s father was the owner of the Little Mountain Sound studio that worked with such teams as Aerosmith and
AC/DC in the 1980s. His mother was a vocal teacher that worked with Leonard Cohen. Ramsay himself started recording in his teen years. Josh learned how to track songs early, creating music under the impact of rock and pop-punk groups alongside with vocal teams. Being a teenager, he started shopping his solo stuff around and followed the tips for enhancing during the following years.
“Ramsay Fiction”
By the year 2000, a number of musicians appeared near Ramsay from the local musical scene. Among them were Steve Marshall, Matt Webb, Morgan Hempsted, and Ian Casselman. Originally, they took the name “Ramsay Fiction”. All the efforts of Ramsay were paid off as the group made a deal with 604 Records in 2003.
Change of the Name
In 2006, the team issued their debut album, but at that time, they were already called “Marianas Trench”. Their debut disc, “Fix Me” and the track “Say Anything” soon took the place in the Top 3 on the Canadian singles chart; “Decided to Break It” also succeeded on the radio and at MuchMusic. Then “Marianas Trench” issued a soundtrack “Alibis” for ABC Family's popular teen sci-fi show Kyle XY. Their next project, “Masterpiece Theatre”, appeared in 2009 and was well appreciated by critics and fans becoming platinum in Canada.
