Band On The Wall upcoming events

25 Swan Street, Manchester, M4 5JZ
The venue dates back to 1862, when a local brewery, McKenna Brothers, opened the pub. Back then, it was called the George and Dragon. Nobody really knows when the musicians started to hold their shows in the venue. It just happened - naturally! Right now, Band on the Wall is a charity and not-for-profit organisation. The name ‘Band on the Wall’ originated in 1930’s when Ernie Tyson, the landlord at the time, positioned the stage very high on the wall in the back of the pub. The venue was very popular with British, American, Canadian and French soldiers during the World War 2. Band on the Wall holds the record for most bottles sold: the astonishing number was well above 24,000 bottles.
