Toyah Ann Willcox, born on May 18, 1958, in Birmingham, is the English actress and singer, who started on the punk scene, and then became one of the most prominent figures of the British new wave. Between 1977 and 1983 she played in the band “Toyah”, signed with an independent Safari Records label. In 1979, they issued their debut single, “Victims of the Riddle”. After Toya appeared as a punk singer Toola in the television series, “Shoestring”, the broadcaster ATV made a documentary about the musical career of the actress that was seen by 10 million viewers: this largely determined the rapid growth in popularity of the new group. The album “The Blue Meaning”, released in 1980, rose to No. 40 in the UK and drew attention to the performer of the general public. Read more
