About Corrosion of Conformity
C.O.C. on the rise
The band started as a hardcore band influenced by minor threat, Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Germs. Though after releasing their first record "Eye for an Eye" in 1984, the band parted their ways with their vocalist. After that, they changed their direction to more heavy metal oriented sound with extensive usage of blues elements. In this light, they were highly appreciated by fans of stoner rock and stoner metal. The band contributed guest vocals and guitar riffs on Metallica's "Garage Inc.". In his turn, Metallica's leader James Hetfield contributed guest vocals on some of the Corrosion of Conformity songs.
Major Success
In 1991 the band released their groundbreaking album "Blind" which features such songs as "Dance of the Dead", "White Noise", "Mine Are the Eyes of God", "Break the Circle", "Damned for All Time" and "Vote with a Bullet". Also, the band shot a video for the song "Dance of the Dead" which was very popular on MTV. Their album "Wiseblood", released in 1996, was highly successful and brought Corrosion of Conformity to the highest positions in charts - more than any of their other albums so far. Corrosion of Conformity last album (up to date) is IX. Released in 2014, it appears to be a logical continuation of the band's musical evolution.
