About Chance the Rapper
Eight months for “10 days”
Bennet’s first project was a result of a 10-day suspension for possessing marijuana at school. He spent almost eight months writing, smoothing and recording “10 Day” back in 2011 and he was soon noticed by musical magazines after officially launching the mixtape. He even caught the attention of Forbes magazine and managed to establish various connections with local producers. But “10 Day” was only the beginning and this talented Chicagoan boy will soon ask for more.
Influencers
Chance the Rapper admitted on various occasions that artists such as James Brown, Mc Hammer, Prince,
Eminem or
Kanye West are a constant presence in his creations. With the latter, he even had short, successful collaborations (he co-wrote West’s album “The Life of Pablo”). He finally made his entrance into the musical world with his second mixtape, “Acid Rap”, but it was “Coloring Book”, released in May this year, that brought him the recognition he deserved. The album positioned the young rapper on the podium – “All We Got”, featuring Kanye West and “No Problem”, featuring
Lil Wayne, are the most powerful songs. The album is by far more mature and powerful than the previous ones. One can tell that Chance the Rapper is no longer the young man who got suspended from high-school because of drugs – he is a father, an activist fighting to stop the use of guns and a promoter of racial justice.
