“Hot Boyz”

In 1997, the label made the decision to create all-star group of New Orleans. So the legendary “Hot Boyz” with Juvenile, Turk, B.G and Lil Wayne appeared. The name was chosen in honor of the well-known gang, which was active in the city in the first half of the 20th century. The first disk blew up their native staff, the second — all America. Everything was like in a fairy tale: 400 000 copies of the first CD, transition under the aegis of Universal and a “platinum” status.

Solo Debut Album and Further Success

Certainly, every of the group performers wanted a solo career. The success of Lil Wayne was also impressive. He showed that he is capable of a lot of things. His debut disk “The Block Is Hot” overcame a level in one million sold copies too. The disk debuted in the top ten lines of Billboard 200. Wayne was nominated as “The best young performer of year” according to the The Source magazine. Soon after the success, which came to him, Wayne takes part in recording of joint singles with such rappers as B.G. and Big Tymers in 2000.

Other Albums

The second CD “Lights Out” (2000) did not repeat the previous success, but took only “gold” status. “Tha Carter 2”(2005) caused squall of delighted responses of critics, and sales passed for one million again. The hits “Fireman” and “Money On My Mind” broke off the charts, and forced many to speak about the disk as about the best release for all the history of the label. The artist politely agreed with it, warning about the release of the third part. But Wayne did not limit himself to one more part, he issued “Tha Carter 3, 4, 5” in 2008, 2011, and 2016 alongside with other albums.
