Their third album (“Tres Hombres”) brought them national recognition thanks to the hit “La Grange”, a musical rhythm saver, which is popular until now, and based on the compositions of John Lee Hooker “Boogie Chillen”. Their success continued throughout the 70s, and headed for its peak during the world tour, which lasted one and a half years.

About ZZ Top

After a 3-year Pause

Tired by the excessive workload, they took a break for three years, and then returned with the albums “Deguello” and “El Loco”. The next album “Eliminator” and the subsequent worldwide hit album “Afterburner” successfully combined the potential of synthesizers and music grungy blues-groove of their own invention, which in turn allowed them to make the material in a more modern style, keeping their own Texas manner. The band members have always had unusual appearances: long beards, hats, golf, and overalls. Becoming more and more popular, they marched in step with the times, while suppressing any flow that occur on the road.

The Members and the Music

Gibbons is in the list of best blues guitarists of America, working in rock music. He was affected by the founders of the directions and blues-rock guitarists in Britain, such as Peter Green. Hill and Beard provide a unified musical accompaniment. The music of “ZZ Top”, which is the only rock 'n' roll band that has preserved its original structure for 40 years (in 2009 it celebrated its 40th birthday), is always immediately recognizable, with different capacity, deeply emotional, and is 100% American. They continue to support the blues direction in different ways. When they were given a piece of wood from the hut of Muddy Waters in the city of Clarksdale, Mississippi, the band members have inserted it into the guitar, polished “Muddywood” and then during the tour sold it, the money went to Delta Blues Museum. “ZZ Top’s” support and affection to the blues are so strong, as strong is the music they play.
