Nasir was born in New York's Brooklyn on September 14, 1973. Nasir Jones made his debut with the demo in 1991 under the pseudonym Nasty Nas. There is a legend that says that Russell Simmons, the head of “Def Jam”, after listening to a record, said: “This sounds like a rapper Kool G Rap, and Kool G Kar is sold badly", and did not sign a contract with young Nasir. In the same 1991, Nas appeared on the track of “Main Source”- “Live at the Barbeque”, and in mid-1992, Nas met MC Serch of 3rd Bass. Serch became the producer of a young rapper and helped him to sign a contract with Columbia Records. Read more
