First Concert

At the end of 2010, Abel Tesfaye added three songs on YouTube: “What You Need”, “Loft Music”, “The Morning”. On March 21, 2011, he let out a mixtape with nine tracks under the name “House of Balloons” on the official site. Other performer from Toronto Drake, created a public opinion about The Weekend, having quoted the lines from the song “Wicked Games” on the twitter and on the website. The first concert of The Weekend took place in Mod club in Toronto on July 24, 2011, and 7 days later, he made a speech at the second annual Drake festival “OVO Festival”.

Second and Third Mixtapes

To promote the second mixtape, The Weeknd let out 2 singles: “Rolling Stone”, “The Birds Part 1”, and a remix on the song of Drake “Trust Issues”. Approximately, in the same time there was a leak of his materials from his previous works. On August 17, he let out a promo cover for a mixtape, and the release took place next day. For the first day the album was downloaded by more than 180,000 times. In this connection, the work of his website was suspended. He had to spread mixtape through other resources. Besides, he received the offer from “Florence + the Machine” to make a remix on their song “Shake It Out” from Ceremonials record. On October 8, he let out a track “Initiation” which was included in the third mixtape “Echoes of Silence” (2011).
