About Sunset Sons
Early Days Cover Tunes
Originally when the band formed, they were performing as a covers band called Cheerleaders around the French Alps and became known for their odd choice of songs including hits from both
Kayne West and Queens of the Stone Age. However, they soon decided that they wanted to write their own music, and that is when the band changed their name to Sunset Sons and headed back to Hossegor to set off on their rise to fame.
Le Surfing and Further Success
Steve Milbourne, former Sony executive, helped the guys release their first single, Le Surfing, which people immediately warmed up to. After climbing to number 6 in the iTunes Rock Chart record companies all around were keen, and in June 2014, just four months after their first single was released, Sunset Sons had signed to Polydor Records, Kobalt Music, and Vagrant Records.
Further success soon followed and the band’s first official release, “No Bad Days EP”, released in October 2014, went to number 1 in the iTunes Rock Chart. In 2015, Sunset Sons were named #1 XFM’s Great X-Pectations for 2015 and were nominated for both the BBC Sound of 2015 and MTV Brand New 2015. They had 2 UK sell-out tours in 2015 and performed at various festivals including the very popular Glastonbury, T in The Park, Reading and Leeds festivals.
