André Leon Maries Nicolas Rieu was born in 1949 in a big Dutch family. His first classes of violin he began to take in 1954. During the period from 1968 to 1973, he spent in a musical academy, studying violin with teachers of the highest class - Jo Juda and Herman Krebbers.
