Showaddywaddy Tickets

“Showaddywaddy” is one of the most successful bands working for the glory of the revival of rock 'n' roll in the 70s. In its golden age, the band hit the British charts 23 times (and broke into the Top 10, ten times), and in total spent 209 weeks in the charts. The project was formed in 1973 through the merger of two local gangs of Leicester, “Choise” and “Golden Hammers”. The first of them, in which Dave Bartram, Trevor Oakes, James E, Romeo Challenger played, specialized in their own material with a small addition of covers. The second, consisting of Buddy Gask, Russ Field, Rod Deas and Malcolm Allured, performed only the things from someone else's repertoir. Both teams were in a pub and experienced a mutual interest in each other, often organized joint jams.

About Showaddywaddy

Unusual Band

The new-found rock-n-roll unit, which received the name “Showaddywaddy”, had a fairly unusual lineup with two vocalists, two bass players, two drummers and two guitarists. However, this situation does not bother the musicians, because during the concerts one half was engaged in the actual performance of music, the second pretend to be back dancers.

‘New Faces’

In 1973, the ensemble took part in the TV show ‘New Faces’ and, after a series of stages, reached the final. The victory earned the boys the offer to participate in a joint tour with David Cassidy, as well as the contract with Bell Records, where “Bay City Rollers” and Gary Glitter worked. “Showaddywaddy” tried to stick to the original material, but in 1975 began to arrive on the covers.

Covers

The covers of Eddie Cochran (“Three Steps That Heaven”) and Buddy Holly (“Heartbeat”) brought them to the Top 10, but when the band tried to do something of their own, the result was disappointing. So, the group had to take over the processing of old rock and roll, and it gave tangible dividends. In the period 1976-1978, the team enters the Top 5 several times, and even climbed to the very top once with the song of Curtis Lee “Under The Moon Of Love”.

End of Popularity

In 1982, a successful period for the group ended - the single “Who Put The Bomp” finished and it got at the very end of the British Top 40. The disc “Living Legends” was the last album recorded with original composition.

Rehabilitation

In 1991, they issued the album “Jump, Boogie & Jive”, and after this, the fresh material did not appear for 15 years. Later, trying to rehabilitate themselves in the eyes of the fans, the band issued two consecutive LPs, “I Love Rock 'N' Roll” and “The Sun Album”.
