Sam became the member of a youth musical theater and took part in the musical "Oh! Carol" in 2007.

First popularity

In 2012, Sam Smith let out the first track "Latch" which brought the first popularity. The song occupied the 11th line in a chart of the U.K. Singles Chart. In 2013, the 2nd single of the singer under the name "Lay Me Down" became the 1st track from his debut album. Smith together with "Naughty Boy" issued the song "La La La", which at once gained the 1st place in the U.K. Singles Chart. In 2013 Sam Smith let out a mini-album "Nirvana" which contained three new tracks ("Safe with Me", "Nirvana", and "I've Told You Now") and the acoustic "Latch" version. In the USA, the collection comprised 7 tracks, a remix on "Nirvana" and two new songs "Together" and "Money on My Mind", which were created after the album went out in England.

First full album

In 2014, the release of his debut full album "In the Lonely Hour" took place in England. The album reached the 1st line in the UK Albums Chart, and also the 2nd line in Billboard 200. The 4rd track "Stay with Me" reached the 1st line of the UK Singles Chart and the 2nd line of U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and the 4th – "I'm Not the Only One", reached the 3rd position in Great Britain, and the 5th in the USA. The same year Sam's album became the 2nd among the most sold albums of 2014 in the USA, having conceded only to an album of Taylor Swift "1989". The album "In the Lonely Hour" reached the same position on a rating of sales in England, having conceded to Ad's album of Sheeran "X". In 2015, the 1st concert tour of Sam in support of his debut album "In the Lonely Hour Tour" began. On the Grammy award ceremony 2015 the same album of Sam received an award in the category "The Best Vocal Pop Album", and the song "Stay With Me" was recognized as the best song of 2014.
