About Richard Hawley
Life and career
Since his school years, Hawley has shown interest and success in the music sphere. The creation of Treebound Story was his first teenage progress. He has collaborated with worldwide known performers like Lisa Marie Presley, Arctic Monkeys and Paul Weller. As a solo musician, Richard signed to Setanta Records and released the album Lowedges. After Hawley had left Setanta, he signed to Mute record labels. On 14 January 2008, he got nominated for his first solo Brit Award for Best British Male Performer. The 2011 Oscars chose “Tonight The Streets Are Ours” as their title track. In 2012 came the release of “Standing at the Sky’s Edge”; by that time Richard had switched his sign-up to Parlophone records.
Nothing can stop him
During one of his European tours, Hawley broke his leg and had to perform in a wheelchair. In September the same year his album was nominated for the Mercury Awards. He worked with the
Arctic Monkeys multiple times, providing vocals for the “Black Treacle” and “You And I”. Hawley found his main inspiration in Sheffield and 1960s rockabilly. Also stating that “I’ve only ever wanted to make music that’s soulful, that has some depth and heart in it.” Those are the reasons why Richard chose the way of the music and the covers and names of his albums often refer to his hometown. He is a man who faced a lot of difficulties, but has never given up and is now a very successful English performer.
