Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, born on February 16, 1990, is better known under the scenic pseudonym The Weekend. He is the Canadian singer of the Ethiopian origin from the city of Toronto. On March 21, 2011 he let out a mixtape with nine tracks under the name “House of Balloons” which is a part of the trilogy including also “Thursday” (August 18, 2011) and “Echoes of Silence” (December 22, 2011). The album “House of Balloons” was nominated for 2011 Polaris Music Prize, but as a result lost to an album “The Suburbs” by “Arcade Fire” group. Read more
