Laura Beatrice Marling was born on February 1, 1990, in the English county of Hampshire. Her father was a music teacher and she started learning to play the guitar since childhood. By the way, her father taught Laura folk music, and influenced her musical preferences in general. At 16, Laura left for London to become a part of the British indie-folk band “Noah and the Whale”. But Laura did not stay with the group for long and after the appearance of their first disc “Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down” (2008), where she appears as a backing vocalist, she decided to leave the group.
