Laura Beatrice Marling was born on February 1, 1990, in the English county of Hampshire. Her father was a music teacher and she started learning to play the guitar since childhood. By the way, her father taught Laura folk music, and influenced her musical preferences in general. At 16, Laura left for London to become a part of the British indie-folk band “Noah and the Whale”. But Laura did not stay with the group for long and after the appearance of their first disc “Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down” (2008), where she appears as a backing vocalist, she decided to leave the group.

Although Laura Marling has not still launched her own project, she was known on the British scene and received invitations for cooperation. One of her most significant work was with Jamie T and, in addition, she performed with Adam Green from “The Moldy Peaches”.
First Albums
In 2008, Marling let out her first disc – “Alas, I Can not Swim”. That same year, the album was nominated for a British music award Mercury Prize.
Her next disc was issued in 2010 and was named “I Speak Because I Can”. It also earned the highly positive feedback and conquered the charts in Britain. The disc was nominated for Mercury Music Prize award again.
Popularity
Soon Laura Marling became so popular that she was constantly invited to various TV shows and among them ‘The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and ‘Later With Jools Holland’. As to her awards, she got the title of the best performer at Brit Awards ceremony, which became a great surprise for many.
Marling's following called “A Creature I Do not Know” appeared in 2011. Her two latest albums are “Once I Was an Eagle” (2013) and “Short Movie” (2015).
