Ocean Colour Scene Tickets

“Ocean Colour Scene” was formed in 1990 after the collapse of the other two Birmingham teams, “The Boys” and “The Fanatics”. The first of them, in which Steve Cradock (guitar, keyboards, vocals) played, was similar to “Small Faces”, and the second, where the participants were Simon Fowler (vocals, guitar), Damon Minchella (bass), and Oscar Harrison (drums) worked in the spirit of “Velvet Underground”. When these four musicians have united under the name “OCS”, it turned out that they are under great influence of The Stone Roses at the stage.

About Ocean Colour Scene

Problems on the Road to Fame

After playing a few shows, the band has built a small fan base and signed a contract with the indie label “! Phfft”. Shortly afterwards, the single “Sway” was issued and it caused only positive reviews. In 1991, the team, along with a legendary producer Jimmy Miller (“The Rolling Stones”) went into the studio with the intention to record their debut album. However, the deal did not go as planned, and the session turned into a booze. When the guys sobered up a little, it became clear that nothing good will happen. Replacing the producer by Hugo Nicholson (Primal Scream), the group set to work seriously, but here there was another problem.

New Label and New Problems

The label “! Phfft” was absorbed by “Fontana Records”, and the new owners made “Ocean Colour Scene” rewrite the material again with the help of Tim Palmer. When the record finally came out, the audience's musical tastes have changed significantly, and the album did not cause a large resonance. Beginning of the confrontation with the recording company led to the fact that they had to stop touring and were able to go on stage only in 1993, when they were invited to support Paul Weller.

Cooperation and New Interest

They worked together for about a year, and in 1995, the team was called to the joint the tour with “Oasis”. The tour provoked a surge of interest in the team from the record companies, and soon the band received a contract from the “MCA Records”. Minion “The Riverboat Song” hit on the 15-th place of the national charts and full-play “Moseley Shoals” was on the 2nd position. The work, supported by two more hit singles (“You've Got It Bad” and “The Day We Caught the Train”), appeared in the Top 10, and its circulation has repeatedly crossed the platinum mark. But the peak of commercial success of “OCS” fell on the third album, “Marchin’ Already”.
