“Nickelback” group appeared in 1996 in a small Canadian town Hanna. The brothers Chad (vocals, guitar) and Mike (bas) Kroeger, their cousin Brandon (drums), and Ryan Peake (guitar) have created it. However, Brandon Kroeger soon left the group. Before Ryan Vikedal was found, six drummers were replaced. The group could not determine their musical style either. At first, the musicians performed only cover versions. But they were not really successful. Besides, the group wanted to achieve popularity and for this purpose, it was necessary to write down something special.
This idea came to Chad Kroeger, although their parents had to finance the project. They paid $4000 for the services of a recording studio in Vancouver. And in 1999, “Nickelback” issues the new album “Curb” in a limited circulation. The album was not successful, what can’t be said about the single “Leader Of Men”. This single has entered the album “The State”, which left in 2000 in semi-million circulation. It was a real success!
The songs of “Nickelback” sounded on all radio stations of Canada. With this album, the musicians performed hundreds of concerts, acting with such groups as “Creed”, “Fuel”, and “3 Doors Down”. Producers, trying to catch the contract, besieged the group. Finally, Nickelback have given the preference to the label “Roadrunner Records” (USA).
“Silver Side Up” and other Albums
The following album “Nickelback” writes down in 2001. In a new album, they have introduced more accurate and real plots in the texts. “Silver Side Up” has beaten the success of the previous album, and in 6 times has exceeded its circulation. This album became gold, platinum, and multiplatinum. The single “How You Remind Me” not only has firmly fixed on the American radio stations, but has also headed charts of six of them. After this album, the group has issued 5 more disks. The latest was “No Fixed Address” (2014).
