Neo Jessica Joshua or Nao, born on December, 1987 in Nottingham, became popular thanks to her airy sincere ballads and pop-funk tracks alongside with more exciting alternative R&B works. She appeared on the musical stage in the mid-2010s. Now Nao continues to record new songs on Little Tokyo Recordings. Born in Nottingham, Neo Joshua settled in East London when she was a child. She learned vocal jazz at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. She also tried her skills in singing teaching. She was a backing vocalist for Kwabs and Jarvis Cocker. Up to 2014 she was a participant of an all-girl group called “The Boxettes”.

First Steps
Her early songs Neo Jessica uploaded to SoundCloud in 2014 and in this way got the attention of the labels. However, Nao preferred to start her own label, Little Tokyo, where she wrote down her first 5-track EP “So Good”, released in October 2014. Her second 5-track EP, “February 15”, was also issued on Little Tokyo in May 2015. Neo Jessica’s voice, which is simultaneously youthful and wise-sounding, is often compared to that of a young Deniece Williams. The same year, she was among those established and upcoming artists who cooperated with “Disclosure”'s “Caracal”.Honors
Nao performed at Glastonbury Festival in June 2015 and in September 2015, she became a nominee for best newcomer of 2015 at MOBO Awards. Neo Jessica was included into the list of BBC Sound of...2016 prize in November 2015, and took the third place in January 2016.Releases
