Mika Tickets

Michael Holbrook Penniman, Jr., known as Mika, was born in Beirut. His mom was the Lebanese and his father the American. When he was still small, the parents left Beirut because of the war and left for Paris. At 9, his family settled in London, where he attended the Westminster School. In the future, Mika worked in “Royal Opera House”, wrote the music for the “British Airways” and for advertising the chewing gum “Orbit”. His debut track, “Relax, Take it Easy”, which appeared on BBC Radio 1 in the UK, became a “hit of the week.”

About Mika

Early Years

As a child Mika was taught by a Russian opera singer Alla Ardakova. Later, he later finished the Royal College of Music in London. Mika’s debut performance was held on BBC2 radio show of Dermot O'Leary in 2006. Next time, Michael was invited to the project of Jools Holland “Later”, and after that – to “Friday Night Project” in 2007. According to rumors, Mika’s vocal range is five octaves but he claims to have three and a half.

In 2007, a new hit “Grace Kelly” led the national hit parade of Great Britain: the first time in more than a 50 years’ history of the chart based solely on online sales. The release of the single on physical media was held on 29 January.

Debut Album

The emergence of his debut disc “Life in Cartoon Motion” took place in 2007. The second studio disc “The Boy Who Knew Too Much” was issued in 2009. In various interviews, the singer has repeatedly made it clear that he is bisexual. In 2012, Mika made a coming out, telling about his homosexuality in an interview with Instinct magazine.

Honors

In 2008, Mika won the Ivor Novello-2008 prestigious music award in the category “Best songwriter”. In 2010, he got the Order of Arts and Letters, which is one of France's highest honors.
