About Michael Ball
First Album and Touring
Michael's first album with the straightforward title “Michael Ball” included the aria “Love Changes Everything” and the song “One Step Out of Time”, which brought the singer to the 2nd place at the Eurovision Song Contest and was held for a long time on the 1st line of the British charts. The success has been fixed by a concert tour across the UK and the performance in front of Her Majesty the Queen at a gala performance, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of her reign.
1995 was rich in events. Michael released two new albums – “One Careful Owner” and “The Best of Michael Ball”. Both of them became gold. The singer also performed at the opening ceremonies of the Youth Olympic Games and Rugby World Cup, and at a concert in Hyde Park in the presence of the Queen of Great Britain. In addition, he played his favorite role – the role of Marius in the gala-concert dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the English-language productions of the musical “Les Miserables”. In the same year Michael Ball made his film debut, playing his first purely dramatic role – the composer Henry Purcell in the film “England, My England”.
In 1996, Michael returned to the London stage to perform the role of George, the hero-lover, torn between two women, in the musical by Stephen Sondheim “Passion”. He also succeeded to record two new albums – “First Love” (which climbed to the 4th line of the British charts and later went gold) and “The musicals” (the album included his favorite songs from musicals).
Michael' debut as a composer took place in 1999 – with the help of Brian Kennedy he composed his first song “Someone Else's Dream”. In the same year, Ball received an award of Theatergoer's Club of Great Britain as the most popular actor of musical theater of the last two decades. The award was a real surprise.
Two new album, released this year (“In Concert at the Royal Albert Hall” and “Christmas”) became popular instantly.
In 2001, Michael Ball released two albums, one of which was a collection of songs from musicals and movies, and the second (“Center Stage”) – arias from different shows: “The Lion King”, “Mamma Mia!”, “Aida” and so on.
