“Mastodon” is the American heavy metal band from Atlanta. Their music combines such styles as death metal, doom metal, progressive rock, jazz, stoner rock, groove metal. The lineup comprises Brann Dailor, Brent Hinds, Bill Kelliher, and Troy Sanders. The team appeared in 1999, when the drummer Brann Dailor and guitarist Bill Kelliher came to Atlanta from Rochester NY and the staff met the bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders and guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds at “High on Fire” concert. They found that they had similar musical tastes, love sludge metal of the groups “Melvins” and “Neurosis” and hard rockers of the 70s “Thin Lizzy”. Soon they founded “Mastodon”.

“Blood Mountain”
The third studio disc, “Blood Mountain”, the band let out in 2006. The first track from “Blood Mountain”, “Capillarian Crest”, came on the 27th place in the Top 100 in 2006 by the magazine Rolling Stone. The record became the best album of 2006 by Bizarre magazine. “Blood Mountain” also came the 2nd in the list of the best albums of 2006 by Revolver magazine.“Crack the Skye”
Their fourth disc, “Crack the Skye” (2009) appeared in a standard and deluxe version (usual songs plus their instrumental variants) and a week later it took the 11th place in Billboard 200. The theme of the disc was astral travels, wormholes in space, theories of Stephen Hawking and spiritual spheres. The album follows the story of a paralyzed man, whose soul is studying astral plans, in his journey, it flies too close to the sun, burns the umbilical cord connecting it to the body, and it disappears in “Oblivion”. The group first presented three songs from the new album at Bonnaroo Music Festival, but then did not play the new songs up to the appearance of the new album for fear before the Internet pirates.Mastodon tour dates
