Madonna was born on August 16, 1958 in Rochester, Michigan, the USA. Her family lived in Michigan, but the decision to conquer the musical world came when they arrived to Bay City. In France, she met the musician Dan Gilroy with whom she returned to New York and created the first “Breakfast Club” group. But in 1981 Madonna already worked with Stephen Bray, having written down a number of dancing compositions with him.
1982 became the birth year of the single "Everybody" and the conclusion of the contract with the Sire Records company. In a year, there was a debut album and its best song, "Holiday", became directly the participant of the top twenty of the American singles, and in a year has entered the top ten of Europe.
Until 1987, Madonna’s hits are born one by one: the leaders of the American charts "Crazy For You", "Into The Groove", the singles "Dress You Up", "Live To Tell" and a world leader of charts "Papa Do not Preach". In the album "True Blue" the hits "Open Your Heart", "La Isla Bonita", and "True Blue" (1986) have been provided to public. At the same time Madonna's film career began – she played small roles in movies "A Certain Sacrifice" and "Desperately Seeking Susan".
1989 became a difficult year for the singer: the video on the song "Like A Prayer" has been condemned by Catholic church, and the Pepsi company has broken off the advertising contract with Madonna. However, the risen sensation has only added popularity.
Many hits of that time were included into the gold fund of Madonna. Among them are "Vogue", "Hanky Panky", "Justify My Love", "Rescue Me" and "This Used To Be My Playground".
In 1992, the singer creates the Maverick company, and signs the contract with Time Warner for the release of the books, albums, and movies.
The album "Something to Remember" (1995) was appreciated thanks to the song "You'll See".
In two years, Madonna has issued the album recognized as the best for all her career - "Ray of Light". It was born in cooperation with William Orbit who has helped to find a new sound and to look at music in a different way. The singles "Frozen", "Ray of Light", "The Power of Goodbye", and "Nothing Really Matters" have entered this album.
Breaking the record
The album "American Life" was written down in the spring of 2003. The composition "Die Another Day", "Love Profusion", "American Life", "Hollywood", and "Nothing Fails" became its singles.
Madonna wrote down the album "Hard Candy" (2008) together with Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, and Timbaland.
The success of "4 Minutes" song helped Madonna to break Elvis Presley's record by quantity of the singles getting to the top ten of charts. This record stuck for 40 years, and was the 36th for Presley. However, became the 37th for Madonna.
