Victoria Park London upcoming events

Grove Road, London, E3 5TB
Victoria Park is London’s oldest public park, parading over 86 hectares of green space, fields and recreational areas. Opened 170 years ago, the impressive park with a capacity of 25.000 quickly became one of Londoners’ favourite places to chill out and escape from the city bustle. Plus, it hosts various sports and music events around the year. No wonder it was crowned as people’s favourite park in 2015, winning the People’s Choice Award.

Getting there

Victoria Park, located in a lovely picturesque place, is easily accessible by public transport and personal car. By train and tube: the nearest underground station is Mile End. From here, turn right and follow the Grove Road until you’ve reached Victoria Park – it’s a 10, 15 minutes walk; or, you can take 277 or 425 bus which goes directly to the middle of the park. If you like, you can cross the Mile End Park, which runs parallel to Grove Road for a much more enjoyable ride. The closest train station is Hackney Wick, which is at a 10-minute walk distance from Victoria Park if you go via Chapman Road. By car: if it’s easier for you, you can drive to Victoria Park following the map. International: Getting to Victoria Park from the major international airports of London will take you about 90 minutes, more or less. At Heathrow, take the Piccadilly line to Green Park Station then take the Victoria line to Highbury & Islington, where you change the Stratford train to the last stop, Homerton. There’s a 10-minute walk distance from here to Victoria Park. At Gatwick, take the Express to Victoria Station and follow the same logic.

Parking facilities

Victoria Park doesn’t have its own parking area, but there’s a free car park on Roman Road, close to Victoria, with 30 places (2 for Blue Badge holders). There are also several private parking lots on Parnell Road, Lefevre Walk, Hewinson Street, Tredegar Road and so on. Almost every private park has a nearby bus station with a direct connection to Victoria Park, but the square is usually reachable by just walking.

Access for people with special needs

The access for drivers holding a Blue Badge is permitted inside the park. Moreover, all the public toilets are accessible for people with special needs, the cafés have access for wheelchair users, and the community buildings offer step-free access. Assistance dogs are welcome, but they’re not allowed in children’s playgrounds.
