The building of the Borderline was built in 1976 and is currently owned by MAMA & Company. Since then, London's Borderline was a popular nightclub and live music venue. Even though the club can’t boast a huge seating capacity (it can accommodate only 275 people), the venue is always packed with admirers of different kinds of music: metal, dance, punk, indie, rock, etc. The Borderline is also associated with the birth of Britpop.
There are plenty of options to get to the club. The are few train and tube stations nearby as well as almost 20 bus routes available for your convenience.
By train and tube: The nearest tube stations are Oxford Circus (Central Line, Bakerloo Line, Victoria Line); Leicester Square (Piccadilly Line, Northern Line); Tottenham Court Road (Central Line, Northern Line), Covent Garden (Piccadilly Line); and Piccadilly Circus (Piccadilly Line, Bakerloo Line). Train stations include Waterloo, Charing Cross, and Euston.
By car: Your route will depend on the departure point. Manette St., where the venue is located, is right off the Charing Cross Rd., south of Tottenham Court Rd. tube station.
International: the easiest way to get to the Borderline from Heathrow is to take the Piccadilly Line that will take you to the Leicester Square Station. You will reach the destination within 6 minutes' walk.
Parking space is very limited in the local area. However, there are many metered bays and mainly underground parking lots available nearby. In fact, the nearest NCP parking is on 112 Great Russell Street.
Access for people with special needs
The front door of the Borderline is on the street level. Then you will see 23 steps down to the auditorium, split into three flights of stairs. The whole staircase has two landings with a railing along one side of the wall. By the left-hand side of the stage, there is a reserved seating with 2 steps up leading to it. All the toilets and a bar are also located on the same lever for an easy access. Be advised that due to the building layout and age there is no wheelchair access available.
