David Jon Gilmour was born on March 6, 1946 in Cambridge. Gilmour studied in the Perse School on Hills Road in Cambridge. There he got acquainted with the future guitarist and the vocalist of “Pink Floyd” Syd Barrett and the bass guitarist and vocalist Roger Waters who studied at the Higher school for boys of Cambridgeshire, which is also located on Hills Road. Having begun to sing in “Jokers Wild”, David joined “Pink Floyd” in 1967, when the drummer Nick Mason suggested him to play in the group. Read more
