About Janet Jackson

Climbing the Ladder of Fame

“Never give up”, her parents said in the childhood to Janet, and with this motto, she comes to the scene at 7. Since then, in addition to “The Jackson 5”, Janet managed to play in popular series “Diff’erent Strokes” and “Fame”, to sell 60 million disks worldwide, and, at last, to become an idol of MTV.

Debut disk

At 16, Jackson signed the contract with the label A&M, which issued her debut disk in 1982. The producers of her debut disk were soul performers Angela Winbush, Rene Moore, and Leon Sylvers, and Janet's father — Joseph Jackson was an executive producer. She was criticized for very modest vocal skills and a "star" family. But the album reached the 6th line in a chart Hot R&B albums of the Billboard magazine.

An Idol of MTV

Jackson worked on the third album “Control” (1986) with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. This disk brought her popularity and made an idol of MTV. Her subsequent album, “Rhythm Nation 1814”, became a grandiose success in her career. All 7 singles from it have got to the top five of the most prestigious American chart of Billboard Hot 100, and the disk became the most sold in the USA in 1990.

“All for You” and other releases

In 1991, Jackson signed the multimillion contract with Virgin Records, having become one of the highest paid performers in the world. Her first album on the label — “janet.” (1993) — changed the public image of the singer and turned her into a sex symbol. At the end of the decade, Jackson was called the second most successful singer of the 1990s. “All for You” (2001) became the 7th album of the singer debuting on the 1st place of Billboard 200. It was made skillfully, without a hint on the slightest falseness. Having incorporated all last achievements of R&B, soul, hip-hop, pop music, Janet has flown up on the upper lines of charts with ease and coolness. Otherwise, it is impossible - the public will not understand. The distinct hits of the album are: “All For You”, “Trust A TR” and “Doesn't Really Matter”. All other material is quiet, not straining music, for those who likes to have a rest under the lulling soul melodies. Her other notable works are the albums “Discipline” (2008) and “Unbreakable” (2015).
