Hozier was born on March 17, 1990 in Greystones, Ireland. In 2013, Andrew Hozier-Byrne still lived together with parents in Dublin and performed in small clubs. Everything, as they say, has changed literally in one evening. Someone posted online video on a gospel-folk-ballad “Take Me To Church”. The clip, which has been inspired by anti-gay protests in Russia, shows homosexual couple which is attacked by a spiteful gang.
About Hozier
The Fans and Creativity
The clip has gained 10 thousand viewings approximately in one hour. Now Hozier has admirers among celebrities (for example, Ed Sheeran, who has made a cover on one of his songs) or Taylor Swift (she has published a vine, in which cheerfully dances at one of Andrew's concerts). The musician issued a debut disk, which sounding ideally fits the current fashion of the American soul and the blues (the father of the musician acquainted him with this style of the Irish), and performed on air at TV show “Saturday Night Live”, which has also seriously promoted his success.
Scenic Image and Reality
The image of a sensitive troubadour is only scenic. In reality, Hozier is a relaxed simple guy. For example, he published the number of his cell phone in a network so that listeners could call him and express their opinion. As a result, so many messages came to Andrew's phone that the trustful Irish had to get rid of the number urgently.
Collaboration
Hozier goes touring across America and thinks of new methods of his music promotion. He thinks about collaboration with the producer-electronics James Blake and Andrew is ready that many will turn away from him if the cooperation with Blake grows together. “I do not play music which should be pleasant to everyone — Hozier speaks modestly. — And I do not definitely need a legion of 15-year-old admirers. Let will look for somebody else”.
