Early Years

Louise Gabrielle Bobb, to give her full name was born on the 16th April 1970 in Hackney, London. She had ambitions to be a singer from an early age, and it was in 1993 that she got her breakthrough with her debut single 'Dreams'. It reached number one in the UK single charts! The song was co-written by Gabrielle with Tim Laws. Her second single, 'Going Nowhere', was also co-written by Gabrielle, this time with George McFarlane. It peaked at number nine in the UK charts. Her third single, 'I Wish', taken from her debut album 'Find Your Way', was a little more disappointing, only reaching number twenty-six. The debut album, meanwhile, reached number nine on the UK album chart.

More Success

From there Gabrielle's career went from strength to strength. She released her second album, ‘Gabrielle’ in 1996 and the top single from the album, 'Give Me a Little More Time', and it reached number five in the UK charts. In total, she released five singles from this album and the fifth one, her cover of 'Walk on By', reached number seven in the UK. Her third album, 'Rise' was released in 1999 that was her biggest selling album so far. The single of the same name went to number one in the UK. The album also went to number one. Her first greatest hits collection was released in 2002 and went platinum four times over. The lead single from this album was 'Out of Reach' which was also the theme from the film Bridget Jone's Diary. It also starred number four in the UK single charts. Gabrielle has been touring and constantly recording since then and will embark on a headline acoustic tour at the end of this year.
