About Formation
The twins had always had an interest in music as far back as they can remember and their parents helped to cultivate this by introducing them to orchestra music concerts held by their local Merton Council. Will was on the percussion side, and Matt was into the saxophone and clarinet.
Start of the band
They started a band when they were fourteen and still at school with a friend of theirs named Adam. They honed their skills doing
Red Hot Chili Peppers covers. It was around about this time that Matt started learning to play bass after deciding he didn't want to play the saxophone. They got into improvised music in a big way, especially jazz. Then the emphasis was making music 'with a groove' but based on drums.
Success with the passage of time
The band has had a fair amount of success with their White label releases, 'All The Rest is Noise’, Waves’, and 'A Friend'. The twins say that they are heavily influenced by vintage soul and disco, but this doesn't show up too much in their music although 'Waves' does have a distinctly soulful sound!
Their strength at the moment does appear to be in their live performances, and they are doing plenty of those this summer. I'm sure that the highlight for them will be their appearance at Glastonbury this year, this should be a sign that they are on their way to 'making it' if they haven't already done so! All in all, their fans are loving their music and almost crazy about their songs.
