“Foo Fighters” is the American alternative post-grunge rock group formed by the former participant of “Nirvana” Dave Grohl in 1995. The name is borrowed from the slang of the American pilots of World War II who called the unknown flying objects and strange atmospheric phenomena seen by them in the sky over Europe and the Pacific Ocean ‘foo-fighters’. The structure of the group: David Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear.
About Foo Fighters
Deserved Popularity
“Foo Fighters” has issued 8 studio albums. The most famous songs are “This Is a Call”, “Everlong”, “Learn to Fly”, “All My Life”, “Times Like These”, “The Pretender”, “Best of You”, and “DOA”. It is the most difficult to get rid of labels, however, Grohl and his group have issued 8 albums, and the third of them — “There Is Nothing Left To Loose” —achieved such success, which the majority of modernist rock groups can only dream of. Just to note that the hit “Learn To Fly” appeared in the rotation of MTV that, in general, is almost unreal for the group playing similar music.
David Grohl
At 12, Dave began to play in a school group which performed the hits of “The Who” and “The Rolling Stones”. Soon Dave learned what the punk is. In 1982, his life changed thanks to the cousin who was the punk rock fan. Tracey introduced him the world of alternative music.
The Formation of the Group
Strangely enough, but the “Foo Fighters” group was formed only after its debut album with the similar name appeared. It was in 1995 when Dave Grohl decided to give a number of the concerts devoted to the release of his solo material. The matter is that the disk “Foo Fighters” has been written down by Dave almost independently. Soon after this, the following releases of the group “I'll stick around” and “For All The Cows” occur.
New Round
In 1996, the group wins the prize MTV for the best video clip. In August of the same year after the end of the tour in support of “Foo Fighters”, the group writes down a soundtrack to Paul Schrader’s movie "Touch". In the end of the year, the minion “Big Me” was issued and in 1997, the group issues one more EP, which received the name “Monkey Wrench”. In 1999 there was the third long-play — “There Is Nothing Left to Lose”.
In addition to full-fledged albums, each of which has transshipped the boundary of platinum, on the account of “Foo Fighters” there are several soundtracks, the most known from "Confidential Materials". Therefore, those who say that the alternative rock died together with Cobain are not right; it has just passed to a new round of the development.
