Future musicians left work to participate in the project. After settling in New York, music became the main occupation for the participants, while at first it was only a hobby. The current lineup of the team comprises Matt Berninger (vocals, lyrics), Aaron Dessner (bass guitar), Bryce Dessner (guitar), Bryan Devendorf (drums), Scott Devendorf (bass guitar).
