Introduction To Rap

Being diagnosed with Asperger's at an early age, Elliot often found it difficult to socialise and fit in with other kids and found that rapping was a way of making the interaction easier. He found his inspiration in artists such as Wu-Tang Clan and Snoop Dog and got his first real life experience in rapping at during a rap battle at a house party in Shepard's Bush, London when he was just 12 years old. Between the years of 2004-2006, Example released three singles through his own record label, All The Chats, including hit single, "I Don't Want To" in 2006. This gained him the exposure he was hoping for and in 2006 he signed a deal with The Beats and released single "What We Made" in 2006. After parting ways with The Beats, Example returned to self-releasing his singles, which included "Me and Mandy" (2008).

Chart Success

Example's next three singles, "Watch the Sun Come Up"(2009), "Won't Go Quietly"(2010) and "Kickstarts" (2010) were all hits in the top 20 of the UK Singles Charts. His second album, Won't Go Quietly, peaked at number 4 on the UK Albums Chart in 2010. The third album was released in September 2011 called Playing in the Shadows which included hit song "Changed the Way You Kiss Me", which peaked at number 1 on the UK Singles Charts. Example has also helped other artists in throughout his music career including writing a track for The Wanted which was released as a single in 2012 and collaborating with other artists such as Takura, P Money and Big Narstie. Since then Example has continued to work hard and is now putting together what will be his sixth studio album.
