Van Morrison (a real name of Sir George Ivan Morrison) was born in Belfast on August 31, 1945. Here Van debuted with an album “Astral Weeks” (1968), which is still considered the best in his discography. The hypnotic, meditative music, which is hardly put in to classification, has plunged critics into ecstasy though the public first remained cool to the work. In 1970 there was an album “Moondance” (1970), sounding much more optimistically than the predecessor and probably therefore staked out the place in the Top 40.  Read more
