About Donny Osmond
A Household Name
Growing up in a very musical family obviously had its benefits and performing as part of The Osmonds gave Donny a really good start in the music industry. He released his first single, "Sweet and Innocent" in 1971 which was a cover of the 1958 Roy Orbison song. Donny's debut single peaked at number 7 in the U.S chart in 1971, and his next three songs all came within the top 10 also with "Go Away Little Girl" reaching number 1 in 1971. Things went a little quiet for Osmond around the beginning of the 80's as Donny began to reinvent himself as an artist. His next big hit came in 1989 with "Soldier Love" which hit number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, after hiring music and entertainment guru, Steven Machat.
Later Days
In 2004, Donny had his first UK Top 10 hit as a solo artist since 1973 with the cover of the
George Benson hit, "Breeze on By". Written with the help of Take That's Gary Barlow, the song managed to reach number 8 on the chart. Donny Osmond's latest album to be released as a solo artist is titled The Soundtrack of My Life (2014) and is the 16th studio album that Donny has released. Not a bad attempt for Mr Osmond as it reached number 181 on the Billboard 200 chart as well as 17 on the UK Albums Chart.
