The beginning of music career

She graduated the University of Leeds, where she studied English Literature. Bailey Rae has been interested in music since the early childhood. She studied classical violin at school. In the 1990s, Corinne Bailey Rae founded an indie group Helen, which was rather successful. They even got an offer to sign the contract with Roadrunner Records. However, the band split after some time.

Solo Career

Corinne Bailey Rae started performing as a solo artist in 2004. By 2006, she released a number of singles, but the true success came to her after recording the debut album. Her music turned out to be neo-soul with elements of jazz and some influences of ethnic music, indie and alternative rock. Corinne Bailey Rae’s debut album went platinum, got three Grammy nominations and brought the singer an international fame. She was #1 at BBC Music Sound of 2006. The second album, The Sea, got #5 in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2010.

Awaited Return with a New Studio Album

In 2016, Corinne Bailey Rae is returning with a new album after six years. It is titled The Heart Speaks in Whispers and is going to be released on May, 13. The album is to have 12 tracks, including Stop Where You Are, Been to the Moon and Green Aphrodisiac. The fans are already familiar with these songs. But critics are still waiting to hear she can offer to surprise the audience. After all, Corinne Bailey Rae is considered one of the most brilliant soul singers of our time.
