Biggest Triumphs
During the late 70's was when Chic really made themselves known. One of the groups first ever songs was "Le Freak"(1978) which made number 1 on the U.S. charts, sold over 6 million copies and was the album that it was from, C'est Chic, was Warner Music's best seller ever until 1990 when Madonna's Vogue came along. But, Chic continued to produce great disco music and released both "I Want Your Love" and "Good Times" in 1979 which are still seen as iconic songs of that era.
But, in the early 80's, as disco started to phase out and rock started to come in, the group struggled to get the following they once had and eventually disbanded in 1983. Some members of the band continued to work in the music industry and provided instrumental backups for artists such as Diana Ross and Madonna. But, they were unable to stay separated and reformed a few years later going on to produce their final album of original material, Chic-ism in 1992, which still managed to secure a place in the charts.
