About
Big Moment
Chesney grew up with parents in the entertainment business, and it was obvious from a young age that Chesney would follow in their footsteps. He was only 19 when he had his big break in showbiz with the lead role in the hit film, Buddy, starring alongside Roger Daltry. Hawkes' biggest ever selling single "The One and Only" was then released shortly after from the film's soundtrack. The song quickly topped the UK Singles Chart where it stayed for five weeks and also reached the top 10 in the United States.
15 Minutes of Fame
Although Chesney's success with his first single that was released was incredible, his following eight singles did not do quite so well. In the same year as hit single "The One and Only" was released, Chesney released two further singles – "I'm a Man Not a Boy" and "Secrets of the Heart". But, neither of these had the fans as excited as the previous single and chart positions in the UK were 27 and 57 respectively. Three more singles were released between the years of 1993-1994, including "What's Wrong With This Picture", but none managed to reach higher than 63 in the UK charts.
Hawkes went on to produce two further singles in the UK in 2002 and 2005 respectively, but neither achieved reaching the top 40. Following on from here, Chesney took part in various television appearances including Channel 4's The Games in 2005, the 2011 Let's Dance For Comic Relief and Celebrity Masterchef in 2015.
