About Calum Scott

A Star is Born

Growing up in Hull, opportunities to progress in the music industry were scarce, but he got a break when he won The Mail's Star Search Competition back in 2013, and shortly after joined Maroon 5 tribute band, Maroon 4 who played at various gigs around the UK during 2014. Calum Scott also formed half of the duo, 'Experiment' during his early career with John McIntyre and they released their debut single, "Girl (You're Beautiful)" in September 2014. But, his real stardom came from Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer moment on the 2015 version of Britain's Got Talent. Although Calum did not go on to win Britain's Got Talent, he still managed to secure sixth place in the grand final and accumulated more than 50 million YouTube views and gained more than 25,000 followers on social media site, Twitter.

Just the Beginning

Only one year later, Calum is still going strong with his achievements this year including peaking at number 6 on the iTunes chart with a hit single, "Dancing On My Own" and appearing in the UK's singles charts earlier in the year with the same song. He is quickly building a global following and his self-released single went viral in over 34 countries on Spotify and peaked at number 2 on the Global Viral 50. The single reached number 1 in 6 different countries, including the U.S. Calum is now working on his debut album with Capitol Records. Another claim to fame for the rising star is that he is the first solo singer from Hull to have a UK top 40 single since 1964.
