About Blink-182
Pop punk heroes
The band’s major commercial success came into being in 2001 with the release of an album entitled “Take off Your Pants And Jacket”. The debut album featured such hit songs as “Anthem Part Two”, “First Date”, “Stay Together for the Kids”, “Roller Coaster”, “Online Songs”, and “Give Me One Good Reason”. After that, the band did several massive tours around the globe. Shortly after that, the band split-up and the members of Blink-182 went to form two different bands +44 and Angels & Airwaves. Some time ago, they reunited and recorded Neighborhoods (2011) where the musicians continued their experiments with hip pop, arena rock, and pop music.
Origins of style
Blink-182 are considered to be one of the major Californian punk bands along with such acts as NOF,
The Offspring and Green Day. They are widely known to combine elements of punk rock with sappy pop melodies which helped them to attract audiences from both pop and punk movements. Despite being criticized for having too commercial sound, there is no point in denying that their unique style and brilliant sense of humor, widely seen in their music videos, made Blink-182 one of the major events in American pop scene in late 90-ies and at the beginning of 2000-ies. The band's members also featured in several documentaries concerning Californian punk rock scene, its origins, and development.
