Dinosaur Jr. is an American alternative rock band, created in 1984 in Amherst. The band is supposed to be highly influential on the development of noise rock and alternative rock music due to the usage of various elements from other genres. Dinosaur Jr. was also quite innovative in technical issues of rock music, often incorporating unusual guitar tunes, feedback and distorted sound of guitars. Initially, the band was named simply Dinosaur but later, due to some legal issues, they changed their name to Dinosaur Jr. The band got their commercial success with the release of "Green Mind" album in 1991 on a major label Sire Records.
