Beverley Knight Tickets

Beverley Anne Smith was born on 22 March 1973 and rose to fame as a British recording artist, radio presenter and musical theatre actress. She grew up in Wolverhampton in the Midlands of England, attending a Pentecostal Church with her Jamaican parents. Gospel singing became the foundation for Beverley's numerous hit singles, including Greatest Day, Get Up!, Shoulda Woulda Coulda and Come As You Are. Up till this day, Beverly Knight continues to impress thousands of fans all over the globe.

Immediate Acclaim

Using the stage name Beverley Knight, she signed with Dome Records in 1994 to write and record her first album, The B-Funk. Released in 1995, it won her two Black Music Awards: "Best R&B Artist" and "Best Producer" and was named Best R&B Act by Blues and Soul magazine. In 1997 she signed a new four-album deal with EMI-controlled Parlophone. This produced Prodigal Sista the following year which went on to sell 150,000 copies in Britain and illicit five top-40 hit singles. The most famous hits were Greatest Day, peaking at number 14; and the Dj Dodge-produced Made It Back featuring US rap star, Redman. Beverley's next Album, Who I Am, was released in March 2002, preceded by two singles, Get Up! and Shoulda Woulda Coulda. It sold 215,000 copies in Britain. In 2004 Affirmation entered the charts at number 7, preceded by hit single Come As You Are. Her next album, Voice – The Best of Beverley Knight, was certified Gold less than a month after its release. Music City Soul, completed in less than five days, was released on 7 May 2007. 100% followed in 2009, entered the UK Albums Chart at number 17. Soul UK was released in 2011, succeeded by Soulville in 2016.

Awards

Beverley Knight was awarded an MBE in 2006 for services to music and recognition of her work for charity. Other awards not already mentioned include three MOBOs, two Urban Music Awards and an EMMA.
